Electronics is the technology associated with electronic circuits and systems, and is one of the major branches of electrical engineering. Electronics engineers use scientific knowledge of the behavior and effects of electrons to design develop and test components, devices, systems or equipment that use electricity as part of their source of power. Subfields of electronic
s engineering include: analog electronics, digital electronics, embedded systems and power electronics. Electronics engineering deals with implementation of applications, principles and algorithms developed within many related fields, for example solid-state physics, radio engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, systems engineering, computer engineering, instrumentation engineering, electric power control, robotics, and many others.

Electronic engineering group of Bahonar University of Kerman was founded in 1977 and currently has 9 faculty members. The system is organized in three tiers: Bachelor’s degree programmes, follow-on Master’s degree programmes and PhD programmes. The research interests and activities of the electronics group include network-on-chip and system-on-chip, low power design, digital design, nanotechnology, FPGA, computer architecture, design with HDL, optoelectronics, photonics, swarm intelligence, image processing, pattern recognition, evolutionary computation, metaheuristics, fault tolerant circuits, testable circuit design, embedded and wireless multi-core systems, data converters, analog filters, RF circuits, microelectronic systems, nanoelectronics devices.
